Hot Metal Happening

The UAG teamed up with Rivers of Steel for this hands-on experience on the lawn of the Frick Fine Arts Building. Participants carved their own unique designs into a customizable scratch mold, and then watched as the skilled foundry team casts each design in molten aluminum reaching 1200 degrees Fahrenheit. This special program was part of the programming for the exhibition, Metal from Clay: Pittsburgh’s Aluminum Stories.
